  1. James Parton, who was married to Fanny Fern, and later on to Fanny's daughter, and adopted her granddaughter Ethel, was somewhat related to Thomas Nast, who married a cousin of his. I believe they knew each other quite well, and had mutual acquaintances with humorist Mortimer "Doesticks" Thomson, who was little Ethel's father.
